Furniture is the forgotten child of engineering design. Usually, furniture design was treated as a branch of fine arts, a craft. Only after industrialization did the furniture industry begin to be treated equally with other industries. Therefore, the most important scientific achievement of the principal investigator (PI) is the development of the scientific basis for furniture design. Development of analytical methods for designing frame, upholstered and box furniture structures. Development of original computer programs for analyzing stiffness, strength and optimization of furniture structures using the finite element method. Author and co-author of 13 patent applications and 11 accepted patents for new furniture panels and fasteners. Most of the furniture design and manufacturing engineering methods were collected in 9 published books.
